Minutes from March 25 Meeting

Thanks for hosting our March planning meeting, Misha! We had a successful planning session and covered a lot of topics!

1) Seeds! Emily is starting seeds for the garden this year. I'll be picking up some more stuff from the Land Trust this week for her to plant, and Libby offered use of her basement as we transition the seedlings from Emily's to the garden for hardening off.

2) Compost and Cleanup! Please look for an email from me with a Doodle poll, so we can schedule our compost delivery and cleanup day for April. We'll plan to get the delivery in the grassy section near the herb garden, and hopefully Libby will be able to meet the truck for us this year.

3) Planning! We had a chance to look at the garden and rough out a site map for various things, including five blueberry bushes from Ashley and Eva. Thanks Janis, for taking the lead on this. Also, we talked about potatoes for next year - Libby will be asking her dad, a seasoned potato grower, for some tips. We had some thoughts about the 'Back 40', but I don't think there were any solid resolutions. We floated sunflowers as an idea; also lots of smothering to control the poison ivy. I'm going to work on a weekly chore checklist to post in the tool shed and mail it out to the group for review. Hopefully we'll be able to stay on top of all our various projects that need maintenance throughout the season.

4) Water! I'm going to get in touch with our landlord to keep her up to date on what our plan is for this year, and hopefully resolve our water issue from last year. Ashley is purchasing a water flow meter, which will measure our water usage this summer. She's also going to get in touch with Alex to find out why the rain barrel was off its perch... hopefully it just got emptied out in case of a winter freeze.

Did I miss anything?
